Since extra balls were added a couple of years ago, hardly anyone has won National Lottery jackpot. The National Lottery players have scooped 61 jackpots in just 12 months, but the scenario has changed after the addition of 10 extra balls. 10 extra balls have pulled down the ticket sales by 8.8%. It was £6.92 billion in 2016-17 FY.
The number of balls has increased from 49 to 59 from October 2015, and the winning odds went down from 1 in 14 million to 1 in 45 million. There have been 14 winners of the main prize so far this year (2017). Some of the regular customers have turned their backs on the game.
One lucky player won the top prize in September while the numbers were two for July and August. A player expressed that the Camelot have killed the original lottery with the addition of extra numbers. “The National Lottery is paying out over 50% more in prizes than it was ten years ago,” a spokesman stated.
