Tennessee Lottery player wins $2 m in Saturday’s Powerball drawing

A Lottery player in Houston County from Erin, Tennessee scooped $2 million in Saturday’s Powerball drawing. There was also a $200,000 winner in Memphis among the 96,127 winners across the entire state.

Lottery officials said that the $2 million winner correctly matched 5 of the white numbers drawn while the $200,000 winner matched four of the white numbers. Both the lucky winners added the “Power Play” option for an extra dollar that multiplied their win.

Moreover, the current jackpot sits at $650 million. This is the second largest in Powerball’s history and the third largest in the U.S. lottery history. Powerball’s record jackpot win is $1.586 billion. A Tennessee family in Munford along with winners in Florida and California scooped $1.586 billion in January 2016.

Above all, Powerball is a drawing-style lottery game that generated an estimated $727.9 million for Tennessee education. Tennessee has witnessed six jackpot winners since April 2004.
