After buying two Missouri Lottery Show Me Cash tickets, Michael Shumate, a punter from Festus (Missouri, United States), gave one to the store clerk, Katerina Thornton. The ticket he gave away scooped $384,000. She did not give a lot of thought to that ticket until the next day. The winning numbers for August 23 Show Me Cash drawing were 16, 29, 33, 34, and 39

The clerk left that ticket at home and went to work. Her boss told her that their store sold a winning ticket. She then called her mom and requested to check the numbers. “Yeah, I would be stunned and mad at myself, ‘I should have given her the other one,’” the customer said. He thinks that the clerk owns some good luck.

Katerina started her new job at Stockham’s Gas Mart at Highways 67 & CC in Festus very recently. She plans to use her winnings for a down payment on a house and a college fund for her son. However, Thornton has declined the interview invitation.
