Two Baltimore residents recently scooped $100,000 each in Maryland Lottery scratch-off games. The Lottery officials did not reveal their names. However, one winner is a 49-year-old refrigeration mechanic while the other is a 32-year-old bartender.
The refrigeration mechanic who referred himself “Hercules” while posing for photographers thanked the stormy weather for his good fortune. On a recent day, he wished to have oatmeal for breakfast. So he dashed through the rain into a local Wawa convenience store. This is where he decided to buy a ticket.
As per the Maryland Lottery’s statement, “While there, he decided to grab a 50x The Cash scratch-off that hid a $100,000 top prize in the very last row of numbers.” Moreover, Hercules has also won a big lottery prize previously from a ticket that he bought while it was raining. He said, “Good things happen to me in the rain!”
While Hercules plans to pay off his bills with his winnings and save the rest for another rainy day, the other winner, 32-year-old played the two instant-win tickets and won $10, the agency said. The bartender received two Maryland Lottery scratch-off tickets as a tip when she was behind on some bills and needed some extra cash.
When she got free from her work, the lucky woman stopped at a Baltimore County gas station. She cashed in her winning scratch-off ticket there to invest the prize in another instant ticket. The 32-year-old bartender chose the Super Triple 10s scratch-off and headed home to play the $10 game.
According to the Lottery officials, as she uncovered the ticket’s prize area, ‘she saw zero after zero resulting in a $100,000 win’. The bartender said, “When I realized it was real, I cried. This really comes at a good time.”
Furthermore, she plans to buy a new car, pay off bills, take a short vacation and build-up her savings account. The gas station at 220 Eastern Ave. in Essex also earned a $1,000 bonus prize. Maryland Lottery offered the bonus prize for selling the top-prize scratch-off ticket.
