Janette Pitsenbarger, a retired woman from Churchville, scooped $500,000 after buying a scratcher ticket at the Food Lion on West Beverley Street in Staunton. According to the Virginia Lottery, she bought her ticket during her weekly grocery trip. “I just play for the fun of it,” said in a press release. Her husband thought it was a joke when she showed him the winning ticket.
The lady who played a $3 million Jackpot claimed the $0.5 million prize winning ticket on 29 August. She becomes the fourth player to claim the second-place prize. Pitsenbarger has no immediate plans for her winnings.
The officials of Virginia Lottery also said two of the $3 million top prize tickets had been claimed. Two other winning tickets remain unclaimed. However, 1 in 1.53 million is the odds of winning the top prize in this game. The odds of winning any prize are 1 in 2.72.
