Patricia Busking, a retired healthcare worker from outside Chicago, has claimed the biggest ever Lotto Jackpot in Illinois history. She claimed the largest jackpot worth $393,000,000 after purchasing the MegaMillions winning tickets two weeks ago.

Patricia Busking, a resident of Palo Heights, Illinois, purchased the winning ticket with her husband, Joe Buskin. They bought the winning ticket at a restaurant near their home two weeks ago for the August 11 drawing. Moreover, the interstate Lotto game jackpot had grown to $393 million.

According to Chicago Tribune, Buskin is not a regular lottery player. She buys the lottery tickets only when the jackpot grows big. After buying some steak sandwiches, she plunked down $5 for a quick pick at Nick’s BBQ restaurant. Later, Patricia rushed to check her numbers after Joe Buskin heard on the radio that winning ticket had been sold in their town. When Patricia checked, all the six numbers matched.

The winning numbers were: 23-33-53-56-58 and 06.

Patricia signed the back of the winning ticket immediately. “It was surreal. It was an out-of-body experience when I saw all those numbers that matched.” Moreover, Buskins chose to take the cash in a lump sum rather than taking the annual 30-year payout. As per Illinois lottery officials’ estimation, her share of winning is $246 million after taxes. This was the fifth-largest Mega Millions jackpot ever.

Unlike the Massachusetts woman who claimed the record $759 million the same week, Busking waited for almost two weeks to claim the winning ticket. During that time, Patricia consulted family and financial advisors about how to proceed. Furthermore, she plans to share the money with family friends and donate a portion to unnamed charities.

Above all, the Nick’s BBQ restaurant will also receive a $500,000 prize for selling the winning ticket.
