A missing ingredient for spaghetti sauce recipe helped a New York man to win a lottery. John Lewis of Saranac Lake, New York, needed mushrooms to make spaghetti sauce using his father’s old recipe. This helped him scoop $5 million winning prize money from New York Lottery.
“I ran to the store before work to get mushrooms for my spaghetti sauce. It is a two-day sauce his dad would make,” he said. Moreover, he bought the ticket from a vending machine at the store. For buying a Set for Life scratch-off ticket, John used $10 of his change from the mushroom purchase. However, he doesn’t like to put money in these things. After winning the top prize, Lewis chose to receive his prize money in $172,068 annual instalments.
Lewis now wants to help a family member with medical bills.
