A Mason City woman scoops more than the expectation in Iowa Lottery draws. Allison Pope knew she had won some money with her Iowa State Lottery ticket-but her actual winning was 10 times more than she thought.
Allison Pope, 23, was quite happy when she thought she had won $3000. However, when she went to verify her winnings she found out she had actually won $30,000. Pope said, “When the lady handed the ticket back to me, I was shaking.”
Pope works for about 12 hours a day at two different jobs. She works as a clerk at Casey’s store at 2701 19th S.W. and a waitress at Mulligan’ Bar and Grill. Pope purchased the winning ticket after her shift ended at Casey’s store. She has sold hundreds of lottery tickets at the store. She has also sold a $100,000 winning ticket last year.
Pope later added, “I’ve always had big dreams of getting a big winner like this.” She claimed her winning prize on Wednesday at Lottery’s regional office in Mason City. This was the 40th of 91 $30,000 top prizes in the lottery’s “Bonus Crossword” scratch game. In addition to this, she plans to use a majority of her winnings to pay bills and will save the rest.
Above all, Saturday’s Iowa Lottery’s Powerball jackpot drawing has risen to an estimated $510 million. According to Lottery officials, the current Powerball jackpot has been growing for more than two months. The Powerball jackpot last hit on June 10 in California.
