By matching the first five numbers, a ticket-holder from Alexandria (Virginia) scooped $1 million from Powerball jackpot. Arthur Martin, a building engineer, bought a Powerball ticket for the August 23 jackpot that was a $758.7 million jackpot. As per Virginia Lottery news, he was not expecting to bag money. “I never expected it to be a winner. So, I never checked the numbers,” the winner said.

Arthur bought his ticket at Parkway Express, 8105 Loisdale Road in Lorton. He was the only one in Virginia to beat the winning odds 1 in 11 million. The store will also receive $10,000 as the ticket selling bonus. Paying off debts and enjoying a family holiday are the elements of his wish cart.
Martin had purchased tickets for different games and checked all his tickets after a week or two. While buying the tickets, he intended to donate to the Virginia Lottery education fund. However, it took four days to overcome the initial shock.
