Wayne Harris, an electrical engineer from Homer, was declared as the winner of the 22 September Mega Millions jackpot. He is a few million richer after the New York Lottery’s Yolanda Vega has presented the check of lump sum payment. He has collected his check inside the Mirabito convenience store on Route 281.
Harris, a regular player of MegaMillions, bought five tickets on the night of the drawing. He scooped this whopping $105 million by the set of numbers on his fifth ticket. He waited until he could redeem the check at the lottery office in Syracuse. The ticket holder never preferred to play any other lottery game except the Mega Millions. He plays the Mega Millions lottery every Tuesday and Friday. The 58-year-old winner said that none of the selected numbers has any special meaning. “I told my father. He was pretty excited,” he added.
As he preferred to collect the lump sum payment, the winner is likely to pocket a lump sum payment of $44 million after the withholdings. The 58-year-old wants to buy an aeroplane and take flying lessons. He also plans to take a vacation to a warm place during the winter season.
