An Indian has scooped the biggest-ever raffle prize money in Abu Dhabi. The lucky winner, Harikrishnan V Nair, has been living in the UAE with his family from the last 15 years. Working as a management professional at a Dubai-based company, Nair is 12 million dirham (USD 3.2 million/Rs 20 crore) richer now.
After winning UAE lottery jackpot in ‘Big Ticket’ raffle draw, the excited Nair told Khaleej Times: “I still cannot believe it. Is it me? Is it me? Think 2018 is the year for that. I will plan a world tour soon. I want to prepare for my son’s education and buy another house in India. I want to take good care of my mother and my mother-in-law too, who are in India.”
Nair, who hails from the southern state of Kerala in India, said that he had purchased tickets on two occasions but had not won. He intends to travel the world with his family. He also would like to help those in need. Nair said, “I have always wanted to assist people in need, and by God’s grace, I can do it now. That is something I will do,” he said.
His wife, who is a logistics support staff by profession, said she could not believe the news. She was dumbfounded when she received the call from her husband. She feels her husband knows how to manage his funds the best.
Recently, a group of 10 Indians had won dirham 1 million (USD 2.7 lakh) each in a mega raffle draw in Abu Dhabi in October 2017. Another Indian man has won dirham 5 million (USD 1.3 million) in the draw in the UAE.
