A family syndicate has claimed €38.9 million EuroMillions winnings after nine days. They won this life-changing jackpot on December 29th, 2017.
The family, based out of north county Dublin, has presented itself on Monday at the National Lottery headquarters to pick up the winnings. They decided to go for legal and financial advice before proceeding the prize claim.
The winners plan to go on holidays in the Maldives or Bahamas later in the year. This quick-pick EuroMillions ticket was bought on December 29th at The Village Shop in Malahide Shopping Centre. A Chinese couple – Ken and Amy Cong – own this shop. They get €25,000 for selling the winning ticket.
A member of the winning group said: “I play EuroMillions regularly and I checked my ticket as normal in a shop the morning after the draw. It is amazing to think that we and our family members are now secure for the rest of our lives. But we won’t go crazy. We have no plans to move to the moon!”
As soon as he received the news from the National Lottery, he went home and shared the news with the family members. They couldn’t believe their luck on receiving the news of winning the life-changing sum. “We had not enough sleep last week. We will take our time before we make any big changes. We would like to start our own business and maybe look at buying a new house later this year.”
