50-year-old cab driver scoops nearly £25 million

Amo Riselli, a 50-year-old cab driver, won the bumper prize of £24,501,283 in last Wednesday’s National Lottery draw. In the initial stage, he was unable to believe it. With this life-changing win, the dad-of-five decided to hang up his car keys and retire. He is now looking forward to enjoying a great time with his beloved family. The winning numbers were 18, 36, 48, 57, 58, 59 and the bonus ball was 50. He bought his lucky ticket from Seymoor Road Post Office, Gloucester. He won this whopping prize without matching all six numbers. However, Amo Riselli was the only player to match five numbers and the bonus ball.

The winner expressed: ‘I will miss all my friends at work as we laugh together, but I have decided I am going to retire – just because now I can. I am not going to play the lottery anymore, as I have already conquered that big win – it is someone else’s turn now. Maybe I am a multi-millionaire now, but I remain the same normal person I always was, just with a bit more loose change in my pocket.’ A holiday to Las Vegas and a four-bedroom house (with a swimming pool) in the Gloucester area are the other elements of his wish-cart.

He asked his 80-year-old mother Maria to keep the ticket. He said: “But I know she was with me this Christmas, I just know she was looking over me and was there for the win.” She wrote: “3 years ago I lost the most amazing woman, missing; you lost the love you mum.” After calling her, Amo Riselli shared this excitement-filled news with his four brothers and sisters and his five daughters. Bethany, one of the winner’s daughters, posted a moving tribute to her late mum last month on the anniversary of her death.
