Newsround Newesagents, which is located at Railway Street, Navan, sold the €78,817 winning lottery ticket to a recently retired man. He managed to match five main numbers and the bonus ball, on the 7th October and collected his winnings yesterday from National Lottery Headquarters. His entire family was there around him while collecting the winnings.
Larry Kiernan, the Newsround owner, said that they were delighted to sell the winning ticket. “We have no idea who the winner is or what time the ticket was sold. The National Lottery just rang us on Monday morning to tell us we had sold one of the winning tickets,” he added.
The retired winner is thrilled to win this jackpot. He, who looks forward to sharing the winnings with family, thinks that the stroke of luck will make his retirement a lot more comfortable. However, the other winning tickets were sold in Mace store (Enniscorthy, Co Wexford) and Kilmartin N6 Service Station (Dublin Road, Athlone, Co Westmeath).
