$5 million lotto jackpot brings a couple face to face

A Canadian couple, Denise Robertson and Maurice Thibeault, is engaged in fighting over $5 million (C$6 million) lotto jackpot win. Perhaps everything is fair in love, not a $5 million lotto jackpot. They are now heading to court to solve this issue. So to prevent Maurice from cashing-in, Denise is on a court injunction on 28 September.

He scooped the $5 million lotto jackpot on September 20 after moving from their shared apartment in Chatham, Ontario. They have been living together for two-and-a-half years. She came home on 25 September to find that he had quit his job and all of his belongings were gone. All his clothes went through 15 loads of laundry the night prior, and he did not put them in the drawers.

“Maurice and I have been purchasing Lotto 649 tickets mutually for nearly two-and-a-half years. Some of the time he would buy the tickets and in some cases, I would. At times I would give him cash, and he would purchase the tickets when he went to get cigarettes,” she stated in a testimony.
