A Petersburg woman won the top prize of worth $200,000 in the Jewel 7s Scratcher game of Virginia Lottery. Dale Watson of Petersburg was in disbelief after hitting the Jewel 7s Scratcher lottery jackpot.

After purchasing the winning ticket from Food Lion, 4320 Westgate Drive in Petersburg, Watson told her husband, “I think I won the big one.” She said his husband, Thomas, had to put his glasses to confirm and make sure. The couple waited for almost two weeks before finding the time to claim the prize. They kept the ticket in n envelope and claimed it on Mr Watson’s birthday. Dale Watson is a nurse and says she would like to invest the windfall but has yet not decided that.

Above all, Jewel 7s is one of the dozens of scratcher games available from Virginia Lottery. There are a number of tickets ranging from Black Opal to White Pearl and from Aqua Marine to Green Jade.  The Jewel 7s prizes too range from $5 to $200,000.

Moreover, the odds of winning the jackpot in this game are 1 in 734,400. The odds of winning any prize are 1 in 4.27. Also, Watson is the fourth person to claim the top prize, and six $200,000 tickets are still remaining unclaimed.

Apart from this, The Virginia Lottery organization generates more than $1.6 million per day for Virginia’s K-12 public schools. Virginia lottery generated more than half a billion dollars for Virginia’s public school in 2016.
