As stated in a release from Virginia Lottery, Charles Davis, a University of Virginia student and Virginia Cavaliers football player, matched all the five numbers and celebrated the $100,000 Virginia Lottery’s Cash 5 game win with his grandmother.
The winning numbers were: 1-3-4-7-9.
Davis lives in Ashburn and was not able to play for Virginia football team last season due to the NCAA rule after transferring from Nebraska. He was returning from an early morning workout and stopped to pick up coffee for his mother. This is when he played Cash 5 game selecting the numbers that his grandmother has suggested.
“We shouted together!” Davis said. “I looked at the numbers on the website after the drawing and said, I…won!”
Davis bought the winning lottery ticket for June 25 drawing at the 7-Eleven at 43974 Pipeline Plaza in Ashburn. Cash 5 game drawing is held daily at 1:59 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. and the chances of winning the $100,000 top prize are 1 in 278,256.
