Michele Charland scooped $244,500 from the June 24 Lotto 6/49 draw. She became shocked while checking her ticket. She said, “I took the ticket straight to the retailer for validation.”
Upon realising, Michele raced home to tell her husband about the big win. “I showed him the validation slip. She added, “Now it was his turn to be in absolute shock.” Plans for the windfall are underway. Michele plans to get a wonderful ring as a special ring that her husband gave her was stolen years ago.
Michele bought the winning ticket at Zehrs on Morrison Street.
Alice Burke, another Niagara Falls winner, scooped a $50,000 top prize with Instant Bingo. “I bought a few instant scratch tickets and stuffed them in my purse,” Alice said. “I forgot about them until the following day.”
Her mom and grandmother were relaxing with her husband when Alice decided to scratch the tickets. She said, “I sat there in disbelief staring at my ticket.” She then turned towards her husband and said, “I think I just won $50,000.”
The huge winning has come at a perfect time for Burke family as Alice and her husband are retiring soon. They will be moving to the Napanee area. “We are so excited for this next phase in our lives. Winning the lottery is icing on the cake,” Alice concluded.
