Ticket purchased at a local store brings $150,000 for Staunton (Virginia, USA) man. The winner, Donald Spencer, bought his ticket on 29th June from 77 Lee Jackson Highway. In adherence to a lottery official, he redeemed it the next day at Virginia Lottery’s Shenandoah Valley Customer Service Center. He was unable to sleep before he went to the Customer Service Center.
Spencer is urged by Virginia Lottery officials to pay 4 percent of his winning amount as state tax and 25 percent as federal tax. In snagging the top prize, Spencer played the Virginia Lottery’s $500 Mayhem Scratcher game. He will pocket $106,500 after taxes. But, two $150,000 tickets remain unclaimed.
In addition, Virginia Lottery conducts dozens of games in which Mayhem Scratcher is one of the most popular names. The game features prizes ranging from $5 to $150,000. Donald is the second player to win the top prize. Meanwhile, the odds of winning the top prize in $500 Mayhem are 1 in 1,162,800 and odds of winning any prize are 1 in 4.13.
