Powerball jackpot touches $700 million mark

The Powerball jackpot is rising higher and higher and is now sitting at $700 million for the Wednesday night draw. The one-time cash option is also a massive $443 million worth.

Powerball is a multi-state lottery game played in 44 states including both Kentucky and Indiana. The final jackpot and cash option will set just before the Wednesday night’s draw based on ticket sales. The Powerball jackpot was last hit in June. The $700 million jackpot is the second largest lottery prize in US history. The highest jackpot ever won was of worth $1.6 billion shared by three ticket holder in January, 2016.

Moreover, Powerball tickets cost $2 per play, and the drawing takes place on Wednesday and Saturday evenings. The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1-in-292.2 million. If someone hits the jackpots matching all the balls drawn along with the Powerball then he will have two choices. He can either chose annual annuities for the next 29 years or can take home the payment instantly at one-time.  Also, of any winnings, the federal government will take a 25% tax cut. In Kentucky, the winner will have to pay extra 6% in taxes.
