North Carolina Marine Veteran Wins $10 Million

Monte Hukill, a North Carolina Marine Corps veteran, and his wife, Gage, a high school English teacher, from High Point, scooped $10 million lottery prize in recent days. They won this prize from first “Extreme Millions” scratch-off game.

Monte bought his scratch-off ticket at Fairway One Stop on Greensboro Road in High Point and moved home to watch the football match. He called his wife as soon as he realised it. “I would scratch a number and then look back at the game. I was not paying attention. But that sure did change,” he told lottery officials.

Gage shared, “He showed me this ticket, and I just thought, ‘No way. Things like this just don’t happen to ordinary people like us.” Her initial thought was the kids. They were with the options of collecting $6 million as a one-time payment and 20 payments of $500,000 per year. However, they took home $4,170,069 as the lump sum payment.
