Two New York based politicians, Robert Miller and Martin Dilan, have upped their income by winning two lotteries separately. Martin Dilan, Brooklyn state Sen., revealed in his 2016 financial disclosure that he hit the jackpot. Robert Miller, Queens Assemblyman, also reported about the winnings of at least $5,000 (under $20,000).
Dilan used the proceeds for a down payment to buy his first home. He won the WIN 4 for $25,000 on 20th Feb 2016. He used a street address while purchasing his ticket. “I played WIN 4 . . . and picked the numbers 1638,” Dilan said. “I remembered his address, so I played it”. His friend stated that he was upset that he did not play the WIN 4 because his street address was the winning number that day.
The winner, who rarely plays any lottery game, stopped at the local deli in Bushwick on the next day of his win. Elected in 2002, Dilan is serving his eighth term. Initiated by the success, he bought a beer for his friend and used the $25,000 as part of a down payment. On the other hand, Miller refused to make any comment on his victory.
