Kimberly Morris, the mother of three from Wake Forest, has become an exception concerning lottery win. She conquered two jackpots in a day. At first, she purchased a $4,000,000 Diamond Dazzler ticket from a Harris Teeter supermarket and won $10,000. The woman then drove to the North Carolina Education Lottery headquarters in Raleigh and claimed her prize. She told the North Carolina Education Lottery “I was shocked. It felt great to win, but I really have always dreamed I would win $1 million!”
After claiming the first prize, she decided to try her luck again and stopped at a Quality Food Mart in Raleigh on the way to her home. Morris bought another $4,000,000 Diamond Dazzler ticket and became the first person to win a 1 million dollar prize from the $20 scratch-off game. The winner called her husband, John, but she was freaking out over the phone. “I couldn’t understand her, so I told her to slow down. When I realized what she was saying, I didn’t believe her at first. I had to come home and see it for myself,” he recalled.
She was in front of three choices; i.e., $50,000 a year, $1 million annuity, or a lump sum of $600,000; at the lottery headquarters in Raleigh. As per the financial planner Nick Holeman, the annuity would be a wise choice for her. But, she preferred to collect the lump sum $417,012 after taxes. She wants to share her winnings with her children.
