Million-dollar Lottery Appeals Thousands of People in Eastern Canada

A Canadian game is getting popular all over the east coast. The Chase the Ace, has been able to brought gambling fever to the city of St John’s in the remote eastern province of Newfoundland and Labrador. This game is also taking active participation in raising money for charity. Each week’s winner of Chase the Ace gets to pick one card out of a deck. In the end, the ace of spades wins the jackpot.

Playing this game is simple. For making the chance of winning this million-dollar game, by picking a card out of a deck, people buy lottery tickets every week. Meanwhile, thousands of people to the Goulds area of St John’s are coming forward to buy tickets. A player automatically wins 20% of the day’s ticket sales if his/her number is picked. However, 50% of the day’s ticket sales go to the organisers, and the rest 30% goes to the jackpot.

A contestant can only win the entire jackpot if he/she can get the ace of spades. The jackpot also has the policy to grow if somebody doesn’t pick the ace any week. At present, 12 cards left in the deck. So, the jackpot has grown up in Goulds to C$1m ($800,000, £613,000). Apparently, people are lining up to buy tickets at 6 a.m. according to local time. The jackpot which has broken the previous provincial record of C$733,000 runs entirely by the volunteers.
