Fleming man scoops $50,000 in Kentucky Lottery’s

A Fleming County man hit the Kentucky Lottery’s Wednesday Powerball jackpot from the August 9 drawing. Phillip McCord of Ewing along with the family came to Louisville on Friday to claim the winning ticket worth $50,000.

According to Lottery officials, McCord stops off at Blue Licks Grocery in Ewing every morning to visit with friends. He also visits to get the draw results of the game he played the night before. Moreover, McCord realized to match four numbers and the Powerball while comparing his Powerball ticket to the printout of the winning numbers.

In addition to this, McCord was not exactly sure how much he has won until he visited the lottery office. “So, how much did I win,” he asked Jennifer Cunningham. Jennifer Cunningham is the spokes person of the lottery. “How’s $50,000 sound?” Jennifer replied. “Real good, I’ll take it,” McCord said.

Above all, McCord normally buys one ticket each day. However, he asked the clerk to give him another ticket while he was walking out of the store. “I just had a feeling, I can’t explain it,” McCord said.

Furthermore, McCord and his wife don’t have any immediate plans for the windfall and look to save it for now. Blue Licks Grocery store will also receive $500 as a commission for selling the winning ticket.
