Failed car-buying trip ended into $50,000 win

Happiness knew no bounds for a Maryland man, who was upset for not being able to buy a used car. Seeing the 19-year-old upset about it his grandmother who accompanied him, asked him to buy a lottery ticket to change his mood. Luck compensates the man with a $50,000 win for a failed car-buying trip.

As per Maryland Lottery Officials, the 19-year old man and his grandma were on a trip to check and buy a used car in Glen Burnie. However, they were disappointed for not being able to purchase the car. Furthermore, the grandma encouraged the man to cheer himself up by buying a lottery ticket from Slide In Mart.

The grandma said, “I could see he was down so I suggested that he get a ticket. He picked out Powerball because of all the talk about the giant jackpot”. The man gave out the ticket to his grandmother to check while she was out shopping. When she checked the ticket at a machine it said to take the ticket to the Lottery.

At Lottery headquarters she discovered that the ticket had won $50,000 from the Aug. 23 drawing. The 19-year-old lucky winner said, “It was pretty crazy”. The man now plans to use the windfall to finish the job of buying a vehicle and pay his school fees.

“This takes away some of the worries we’ve all been facing,” he concluded with a bright smile.
