After much speculations, Friday’s EuroMillions jackpot worth approx €29 millions has finally been claimed. The winning ticket holder has made contact with the National Lottery officials.
Speaking on RTE Radio One News at One, the National Lottery Chief Executive Dermot Griffin confirmed that the winner had contacted National Lottery this morning. However, it is yet not clear whether the winner is a syndicate or an individual.
According to Griffin, the winning prize of €28.9m will transfer to Ireland by Wednesday evening. He said the nine countries that operate the EuroMillions jackpot lottery game will collect the money first. After that, it will go through the banking system back to Ireland. We’ll probably get the money in Wednesday evening. Griffin added that we usually give winners a significant amount of time and space to tell whoever they need to in terms of friends and family. The winner has approx 90 days to collect the jackpot.
The National Lottery officials said that the name of the retail shop will be out in a couple of days. “This is an incredible amount of money to win, and we are delighted to have another winner of EuroMillions in Ireland.” The winning numbers were 11-20-35-37-45 with bonus numbers 3 and 6. And, the winning jackpot is of €28,975,630. This is the 11th EuroMillions Jackpot win in Ireland since it started in 2004. Till date, Ireland has won more than €1 billion in EuroMillions prizes, including all the 11 jackpots. Furthermore, Lusk in North Dublin sold a winning ticket worth €88 million, earlier this year.
However, the biggest EuroMillions Jackpot win in Ireland remains the €115 million scoop for Dolores McNamara in 2005. And, €94 million win in Beaumont in Dublin in 2013 is the second-biggest EuroMillions win in Ireland.
