Calgary Stampede Lottery winning results

Donald Wakelam, from Nanton (Alberta, Canada), is the winner of the $938,375, Scandinavian-style four-bedroom dream home. Another winner from Airdrie (Alberta, Canada), Donna Wilshusen won half of the $1,650,865 jackpot for Split ’em 50.

Wakelam said that her wife was watching the results on the news when he heard a blood-curdling scream. He thought something happened to the kids. So he rushed into the room, and her wife was running around saying ‘we won a house’. He added, “It’s been a blur since it happened.”

Born and raised in Calgary, Wakelam has been purchasing lottery tickets for as long as he can remember. Although Wakelam hasn’t seen the house, he joked that he had taken a dozen of virtual tours. “What more you could ask for?” he said when asked about his winning. The house will be ready to move in November in the Carrington community in the N.W. It is a brand new 2,580-square-foot house with a finished basement. The house will be first for the Stampede dream home.

Wilshusen was also equally excited. She is walking away with almost $1 million. She said, “It’s still very much unbelievable. I still can’t comprehend that my ticket can be drawn out of thousands and thousands”. She also said that the windfall means a lot to her and her family. However, they are still figuring out what to do with the winnings.

Moreover, for Anita Sharma, winner of the truck and fifth-wheel prize package, buying tickets is all about the cause. She said, “I love supporting the Stampede and our city. That’s the only reason I buy tickets”. The other seven prize winners walked away with one or a combination of brand-new vehicles, toys or a trip to Hawaii.

Above all, the Stampede Lotteries support charities within the community. Last year, The Kinsmen Club of Calgary, the Rotary Club of Calgary South and the Calgary Stampede donated $1.2 million.
