Building engineer wins $1 million

By matching the first five numbers, a ticket-holder from Alexandria (Virginia) scooped $1 million from Powerball jackpot. Arthur Martin, a building engineer, bought a Powerball ticket for the August 23 jackpot that was a $758.7 million jackpot. As per Virginia Lottery news, he was not expecting to bag money. “I never expected it to be a winner. So, I never checked the numbers,” the winner said.

Winning Numbers: 06, 07, 16, 23, and 26

Powerball: 04

Arthur bought his ticket at Parkway Express, 8105 Loisdale Road in Lorton. He was the only one in Virginia to beat the winning odds 1 in 11 million. The store will also receive $10,000 as the ticket selling bonus. Paying off debts and enjoying a family holiday are the elements of his wish cart.

Martin had purchased tickets for different games and checked all his tickets after a week or two. While buying the tickets, he intended to donate to the Virginia Lottery education fund. However, it took four days to overcome the initial shock.
