The Colorado Lottery is awarding the city of Greeley for the use of lottery proceeds to create the Aven’s village playground. Aven’s village playground is the city’s first all-inclusive playground for children of all ages and abilities. The park was completed in October 2016 and was made possible with a lottery-funded grant of more than $300,000 from Great Outdoors Colorado.
Moreover, the Aven’s village park is named after Aven Mondy. Aven Mondy, 8 has cerebral palsy. The park accommodates children of all abilities. It also has the wheelchair-accessible equipment. The Lead Minister for Journey Christian Church Arron Chambers and family initially started working in making the playground universally accessible in 2013. They decided to name the park Aven. Aven is also a member of their church.
Above all, the Aven Park is designed by California-based nonprofit Shane’s Inspiration.
