$400k Lottery Prize for Davidson County Man

A man from Davidson County wins $400k lottery prize after craving for a chocolatey snack. Jeffrey Benfield stopped by the T & T Convenience on South N.C. 150 in Lexington. He then bought some lottery scratch-off tickets. He scratched off The Big $5 Tickets while enjoying the snack on a bench outside the store. Benfield could hardly believe the fact that he won the top prize.

Benfield said, “I kept looking at the ticket. I had to put my glasses up closer. I can’t believe it.” While celebrating, the winner wanted to use the ticket checker in the store for hearing the musical tunes. He then took his 87-year-old mother out to dinner.

The winner claimed his prize Friday, at lottery headquarters, located in Raleigh. He went home with $278,005 after required state and federal tax withholdings. Benfield plans to invest some winnings in renovating the house where his mother lives. He is also willing to fulfil his long-time dream of taking his first cruise to Alaska.
