Binggang Li has claimed $3.1 million prize for the Mega Millions ticket purchased earlier this year. He bought two Mega Million tickets at South Bay Liquor in Chula Vista, California ahead of the May 19 draw. Li’s winning ticket would have worth $43 million if he did pick the Mega number. However, he picked five winning numbers and scooped $3.1 million before federal taxes. As per the officials of Multi-State Lottery Association, he is still in shock over the win.
Apart from this, two tickets in New Jersey and one each in Massachusetts and Virginia were also sold. All the four tickets worth $1 million. California law requires major payoffs of lottery games to pay on a pari-mutuel basis. Multi-State Lottery Association announced all the $1 million tickets.
According to the information given in Mega Millions website, the odds of matching all five numbers and the Mega number are 1 in 258,890,850. But yes, the overall chance of winning a prize is 1 in 14.71. The retailer will receive $15,582 or 0.5 percent of Li’s winning sum as the ticket selling bonus.
