Amanda Miller, a resident of Granite City, scooped $200,000 just one week after the Illinois Lottery reinstated its prize winnings. The winning ticket cost $5 and featured 12 top prizes of $12,000. Miller is one of the lucky winners. In adherence to news released from Illinois Lottery, she purchased the ticket from Case’s General Store in West Main Street (Glen Carbon). She said, “I always hear about big lottery winners from around here. But, I never imagined that I would be one of them.”
The lady who usually buys two to three Bingo tickets in a week was at home when she used her ‘lucky nickel’ for drawing the winning ticket. She always preferred the same nickel to scratch the tickets. Home improvement is the first thing she wants to do with the winning amount. She is also planning to invest some money towards family happiness.
During the suspension brought on by the then-ongoing budget crisis, the Illinois Lottery resumed services for the first time, since 2015. Lottery officials were forced to delay Powerball, Mega Millions and prize payouts during the then on-going budget crisis.
