Scottish Builder Wins £50,000 on a £1.50 Bet

Colin Banks, a 50-year-old builder from Scotland, beat odds of 1 in 372,000 to scoop £49,077 on a Betfred Lucky 15 virtual horse.

Colin Banks was at an Asda store in Motherwell with his daughter Zoe when he spotted the £30 left behind at the ATM. He handed it over to a supermarket worker. And, what followed it was the instant karma.

Ecstatic on winning big, Collin said, “They say honesty is the best policy…and it certainly was for me! I have been having a go on virtual racing for six months, but this is easily my biggest win. It is amazing really to win so much from just a £1.50 bet.”

A regular punter of virtual racing, Colin described his first choice was Richardson Lakes (28/1) after his nephew named Richard. Also, he has regularly backed Rifle Bore (20/1) while among other random choices are Granary Loaf which was a 50/1 shot and Soviet Fighter (11/1).

Colin has already spent £8,500 on a second-hand Ford Focus. The 50-year-old family man plans on celebrating the Christmas in a grand style. Betfred boss, Fred Done, congratulated the winner and wished him a great Christmas. He added that it was one of the most prominent virtual horse racing wins in last fifty years.
