Catherine Kidd, a 38-year-old woman from Draperstown, Mid Ulster, scooped two jackpots in a period of two years. The current prize is 50 times bigger than the couple previously won. She, along with her husband, Ciaran Kidd, 40-year-old Liverpool FC season ticket holder and engineer, is now celebrating the £1 million EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker jackpot. This mammoth win came two years after they had won November 2015 Lotto Millionaire Raffle worth £20,000. Hence, the working couple becomes Northern Ireland’s newest lottery millionaires after winning the EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker jackpot worth £1 million.
Kidd said: “I thought my heart was going to burst out of my chest as I sat in work for the rest of the day – trying to control my emotions and asking myself if this was really be happening?” With the recent winnings, she wants to visit her family in Rochdale. But her husband intends to play some more matches on Merseyside. The couple has four young children between the ages of two and ten. The 38-year-old mother thinks that there will be something extra special in the kids’ stockings this year. She is expecting an extra special Christmas and remarkable New Year this time.
Kidd requested her husband to check the ticket. He turned confused after checking the card. The system was showing that they had won one million pounds. Ciaran, the Moyola Precision Engineer, then called back to say she must have given him the wrong details. “He thought that I was winding him up, and I thought that he was winding me up, but then he sent a screenshot to my phone, and it all went a bit crazy after that,” Catherine said. Finally, she verified their win with the National Lottery. As per the National Lottery officials, both Ciaran and Catherine are down-to-earth people. They are grateful to the National Lottery.
