$14.25 Million Jackpot Winner Claims Prize at the Eleventh Hour

The winner of $14.25 million Texas Lottery jackpot has claimed the prize just two days before the expiry day. As per Catherine Kim Fowlkes of Texas Lottery Commission, a resident of Abliene has claimed the Lotto Texas jackpot prize on Dec. 12, 2017 (Tuesday) on behalf of the unidentified winner. The ticket was purchased at HEB on Barrow Street in Abliene. The winning numbers for June 17, 2017 were 3, 4, 6, 23, 34, and 54.

Dec. 14, 2017, was the last day for claiming the jackpot-winning ticket, although the entire period was 180 days long. The HEB Store had received a bonus check for $142,696.06 for selling the winning ticket. “On behalf of the Texas Lottery, I want to congratulate the AHSODESKA Trust on their luck and good fortune,” said Gary Grief, executive director of the Texas Lottery.

The winner has requested for a minimal publicity. The winner receives the lump sum payment of $10,072,040.86.

In case it had remained unclaimed, lottery winnings would have gone to the Foundation School Fund. The amount is overseen by the Texas Education Agency and helps pay for school’s needs across the state. Since the time of inception, more than $1 billion (as unclaimed) prizes have been given back to the state.
