EuroMillions and UK Millionaire Maker (UK)

Launched on 7 February 2004 by France’s Française des Jeux, Spain’s Loterías y Apuestasdel Estado and the United Kingdom’s Camelot, EuroMillions is a transnational lottery game. The first draw took place on Friday 13 February 2004 in Paris. Initially, EuroMillions and UK Millionaire Maker (UK) were only played by UK, France and Spain. However, from 8 October 2004 drawing, Austrian, Belgian, Irish, Luxembourgish, Portuguese and Swiss lotteries also started to offer the EuroMillions and UK Millionaire Maker (UK) draw.

EuroMillions draw takes place every Tuesday and Friday night at 20:45 CET[1] in Paris. Depending on the local currency, a standard EuroMillions ticket costs just €2.50, £2.50 or CHF3.50 per line played. In the UK, the cost per line increased from £2.00 to £2.50 From 24 September 2016.

the amount of lucky stars changed from a pool of 11 to a pool of 12 numbers from September 24, 2016. Decreasing the jackpot winning odds from 1:117million to 1:140million. The cost of entry in Ireland and Spain also rose to €2.50 per line on the same date. All the winning prizes, including the EuroMillions jackpot, are tax-free and are paid as a lump sum except in Switzerland, Spain and Portugal.

  • All the lottery players are supposed to pick five main numbers from 1 to 50. Along with two different lucky star numbers from a pool of 12 numbers.

The EuroMillions and UK Millionaire Maker (UK) Draw takes place on every Tuesday and Friday in Paris at 20:45. The winning results are announced shortly after the draw. To take part in the EuroMillions Lotto, you will have to purchase tickets online and from many outlets, namely at licensed stores.

On Tuesday 10 May 2011, the game-play changed a bit. A second weekly draw was introduced and the number of “lucky stars” in the Pacquerette machine was increased from 9 to 11. A prize for matching two main numbers and no lucky stars was also introduced on the same date.

Recently, the number of lucky stars was again increased from 11 to 12 in September 2016.


  • The lotto person should be 18 or above to participate on who resides in a participating country. However, in the UK the minimum age to play lottery is 16 years.


  • The game is currently available to players in Spain, Ireland, Andorra, Austria, Liechtenstein, Belgium, Monaco, Switzerland, France (including overseas regions and collectivities), the Isle of Man, Luxembourg, , Portugal, and the United Kingdom.
