Maurice Thibeault, a long-time federal public servant, tried to claim the Lotto 6/49 jack without informing his ex-girlfriend, Denise Robertson. The Chatham residents were living together along with her teenage daughter (from the previous marriage) for more than two years (in her house) as they were in a live-in relationship.
The couple won $6.1 million Lotto 6/49 jackpot after getting separated, on September 20. Thibeault, the father-of-three, recently presented his ticket at OLG’s Toronto prize centre. It was a $12.2 million jackpot which split into two. He shared with CTV News Channel, ”The key to the wife’s claim will be that . . . they had this plan to buy tickets together and share the winnings. That is going to be the nub of the case,”
Robertson obtained an emergency court injunction before the jackpot claim. The separated couple plays the lottery every alternative week. However, the winning numbers for September 20th draw were 6, 17, 29, 37, 45, and 47.
